How Your Spouse or Partner Can Help Determine Your Success

Your Partner Affects Your Ability to Prosper

Are you married or are you in a serious relationship? Your relationship with that person is a big factor when it comes to your success in life!

If you’re starting a new chapter in life by becoming an entrepreneur, you need to make sure that your spouse is by your side and supporting you—giving you the space to succeed or fail.

No matter what your other circumstances are, you’ll have a higher chance of living a happier, more successful life when you know that you have the support of your partner.

But Don’t Give Your Spouse All the Credit—Your Success Is Primarily Up to You.

We’ve worked with thousands of couples over the years to create success and learned many things. One of the main things we’ve learned is that your success is up to you, even though your spouse plays a significant role. How does that play out? Basically, it’s your responsibility to help your spouse support you.

You may have to take a stand for yourself. Do your best to explain to your spouse that you want to try something new. You may not know how successful you’re going to be, but you should ask them for the space to go for it. Hopefully, they’ll say OK and you can go through it together!

It’s your job to create the space you need to succeed or fail by openly asking your spouse for that space. Have empathy with them if they are resistant, and gently tell them how important it is to you to have their support. One thing you could say to your husband, wife or significant other would be:

“I have to do this. I need the space to succeed or fail and have your support.”

Here are some other things to help you in that conversation:

  • Ask them to believe in you no matter your past successes or failures.
  • Ask them to support you even though you don’t know if you’ll win or lose.
  • Be completely honest and open.
  • If your spouse is resistant, don’t blame them, tell them they’re wrong, or make claims you can’t support.

What’s Your Number?

In this episode, you’ll learn how specific numbers can help you figure out your best and worst traits. Everyone has traits that can drive them to success and failure, and your number may help you discover these traits.

Of course, you’re going to want to take your number with a grain of salt—but it could really help you become introspective. It could be a tool that leads you to create success in your business and your life!
