Beating Forty

Whether you are 40+ or on your way there, there’s some good news for you. I believe life is what we make it; the new norm is people living their best years of their life at the age of forty. Rach and I are doing it, and our guests Amanda and Adam Bude are too! And we’re going to share how you guys can get on track and join the next amazing decades of life.

Amanda Bude, 42, is an entrepreneur and is more excited about creating her future now than she’s ever been. She threw herself into her passion, working full-time as a sleep therapist, helping families with babies and children with sleep issues.

“I turn 42 today, and I have confidence, I’m unstoppable, nothing is holding me back from making decisions, exploring marketing avenues out there. I’m more of a pioneer in my own mind and secure in knowing how I want to go forward.”

Becoming an entrepreneur later in life brought Amanda a whole new wave of success for herself. She is regularly on Australian TV, as a specialist in her field sharing her knowledge and expertise.

“Since hitting forty I’ve come out the other side confident, growing, with the maturity and the faith in my own ability to make those decisions and backing myself. No Plan B, with big exciting goals.”

When a person is operating with excitement, they’re on-purpose, your ability to adapt and grow is stronger than you imagine. It doesn’t take that long to really learn something, but as we get older, we tend to act as if we don’t have any time; the clock is working against us. So we don’t make good use of time. It’s a habit and that thinking is contagious.

You’ve got to operate with vision, look ahead ten years; it’s never too late to live the life of your dreams. Hold fast to that goal and invigorate yourself with that energy and you will attract the best results at ANY age!

Adam, 42, is a self-made entrepreneur and has been a guest on Mind Power in the past (check out Adam’s rise to success here). Adam chose to become a full-time entrepreneur 18-months ago, with three young kids and a pile of responsibility that goes with it.

“I wasn’t enjoying my life and kept wondering – when is it going to be my time? And that’s what spurred me into being a self-made entrepreneur. There’s been a big switch on how I view things in life at this age. Forty used to be old. But I feel like I’m just starting my life, I have more energy and purpose than before. I have a clear path of where I want to be heading in my life right now. The journey of the experiences on our life path and my first twenty years was trying to find myself, and now it’s exploring that and developing it into something better.”

More Chilean adventures. We enjoyed a great day at Valle Nevado, about 1 hour from Santiago!

I find there is a basic life formula: your first twenty years you are acquiring basic skill set. The next twenty, you’re applying those skills to fit in and gain some experience in life. And then the next twenty, you learn how to proactively apply those skills to create something that excites you and motivates you.

You just have to start. That’s the big tip. You’re never ever too old. Here is an insight Rachel shared:

“Pick one thing to start improving – then your energy rises. And then pick another thing and start chipping away. And before you know it, you’ve done a completely 180 and you have the life of your dreams. You can do that at any age to keep spiraling upwards and upwards”.

The best benefit of all is the joy of life that positive energy brings. Expanding and growing will always deliver that feeling to you.

Rach and I absolutely envelop this philosophy. We are both 40+ and are constantly keeping ourselves excited and inspired. For us, this means a lifestyle full of travel, open minds, and enigmatic life experiences but also on a daily level we want to create the freedom to allow daily yoga practice, exercise, health and wellbeing. The transitions to build this life for ourselves were hard, but it was our choice, and if you’re steadfast in your decision, you will always find your feet again. It was totally worth it!

You are never too old to take a risk. Live your passion. Be true and authentic. Change today. Embrace it. Forty rocks!
